There is / There are Nedir?

Bir yerde bir şeyin var olduğunu söylemek için "There is / There are" kalıbı kullanılır. Türkçedeki "vardır" anlamına gelir.

Tekil ve Çoğul

• There is (There's) + tekil isim: There is a book on the desk.
• There are + çoğul isim: There are three books on the desk.

Olumsuz Yapı

• There isn't + tekil: There isn't a hospital here.
• There aren't + çoğul: There aren't any chairs.

Soru Yapısı ve Kısa Cevaplar

• Is there a pen? - Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.
• Are there any students? - Yes, there are. / No, there aren't.
• How many books are there?

• Olumlu: There are some apples.
• Olumsuz/Soru: There aren't any apples. / Are there any apples?
