Past Continuous Tense Nedir?

Past Continuous Tense, geçmişte belirli bir anda devam etmekte olan eylemleri anlatır. Türkçedeki "-yordu" ekine karşılık gelir.

Cümle Yapısı

Özne + was/were + Fiil-ing

• I / He / She / It → was + V-ing
• You / We / They → were + V-ing

Örnek: At 8 o'clock, I was studying. They were playing football.

Olumsuz ve Soru

• Olumsuz: She wasn't sleeping. / We weren't talking.
• Soru: Were you watching TV? / What was he doing?

when ve while ile Kullanım

Geçmişte bir eylem sürerken başka bir eylemin araya girmesini anlatır:

• While I was reading, the phone rang. (Okurken telefon çaldı.)
• I was having dinner when he arrived.

Kural: Uzun/devam eden eylem → Past Continuous; araya giren kısa eylem → Simple Past.
